Core awareness belt
Dr. Richardson, a renowned physiotherapist, stresses the use of practical ways or 'exercises', to develop a strong and stable spine to improve Gravity Fitness. She suggests simple lifestyle activities and exercises that can activate and strengthen the antigravity muscles by gradually increasing Gravity Sensory Information and effective weight bearing load. She has designed a Core Awareness Belt to be worn at the waist to help activating core muscles and maintain good spinal posture while moving or exercising. The belt gives feedback to help ensuring a neutral spine position when moving or exercising. It indicates to the user, via the mechanical stimulus of the belt on the body, when the Core has fatigued or the neutral spine position has been lost and the low back is unsupported. The belt consists of a non-elastic belt worn around the waist with a specially designed lumbar (low back) block that fits comfortably into the low back when it is in the neutral position and the core muscles are activated. If one sinks into a poor spinal position or the core muscles get tired and relax, the block at the back will gently press against the lumbar spine and the belt appears tighter around the abdomen. This very simple exercise tool gives a mechanical stimulus on the low back as a reminder if the low back is not properly supported and is vulnerable to injury. Dr. Richardson suggests that the belt can be used for all types of exercises and activities that rely on maintaining core stability and the neutral spine position. The belt has no magic but the message is clear. Engage the back muscles and the transverse abdominis (core muscles)anytime anywhere!
